The highest point of Azerbaijan-Bazarduzu mount, highest cottage in the country – “Suvar” as well as country’s largest carpet are here. The mountain river Gusarchay, in honor of which the city acquired its name, flows in Gusar. There is also an artificial lake, Fialka. Favorable natural conditions create a great opportunity for organization of the resorts, recreational and tourist complexes in this area. Guba – one of the biggest cities in Azerbaijan. The city is located 170 km to the north of Baku right on the charming hillsides. In the past it was the capital of Guba khanate which was founded in the mid-18th century. Guba is pretty and lovely with its green nature, lighting forests and extraordinary mountain areas which is a part of range of Caucasus mountains. The unequaled beauty of the local mountains was admired by such famous people as Alexander Duma-father, the Russian writer Bestuzhev-Marlinsky, the Norwegian traveler Tor Heerdal and others. Shahdag National Park
The territory of the National Park was enlarged 14613 ha with the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan в„– 193/S, dated July 8, 2010, hence its territory was reached 130508 ha. The aim of establishment of the Shahdag National Park is rehabilitation, maintenance and management of global mountain forests and pasture ecosystems located in high mountainous areas including various endemic and endangered species and transboundary migratory animals, preservation of fertile soil layer, protection, reproduction and enrichment of fauna and flora species characteristic for the area, as well as regulation of natural complex stability, offer of all necessary facilities for the implementation of scientific-research works, environmental monitoring, environmental enlightenment of population and provision of development of ecotourism in the territory which has great tourism potential.
The meaning of the name of village is “the place between the mountains.” Valvalachay river passes through two mountains on the northern slope of the Greater Caucasus. The road that passes through two mountains, steep cliffs as well as beautify forest make the view of this village charming. Tengalti has a very beautyful waterfall called Afurja. Afurja Waterfall is located on the Velvelichai river. Afurja Waterfall listed in the “Nature Monuments of Azerbaijan” and is protected by the state. The waterfall flows from a high rock situated near the village. A narrow 3-4-meter wide gangway leading underneath the waterfall causes a rush of adrenaline. The country’s highest waterfall begins in the mountains and from about 70 meters high rock.
Qechresh is one of the largest villages in the Guba region. It is located 12 km from the district center. There are many recreation centers in the village. The area is covered with forest on all sides. Qechresh is famous for its natural springs and plants. The wild walnuts, hazelnuts, cranberry, hawthorn, hips, apples, pears and pine trees grown there. As for the animal world, the village is a home for gazelles, wolves, bears, foxes and other animals. It is also possible to catch fish in Gudjalchay, which gives a special beauty to the village.
