Guba - one of the biggest cities in Azerbaijan. The city is located 170 km to the north of Baku right on the charming hillsides. In the past it was the capital of Guba khanate which was founded in the mid-18th century. Guba is pretty and lovely with its green nature, lighting forests and extraordinary mountain areas which is a part of range of Caucasus mountains. The unequaled beauty of the local mountains was admired by such famous people as Alexander Duma-father, the Russian writer Bestuzhev-Marlinsky, the Norwegian traveler Tor Heerdal and others. The beautiful Guba carpets are symbols of Guba.
Khinalig - Located more than 2000 meters above the sea level, in isolated areas of region of Guba - Khinalig village is considered one of the most visited places by tourists. Among the oldest continuously inhabited places in the world, Khinalig has a history spanning over 5,000 years. The main reason why Khinalig kept its architectural and cultural uniqueness, was because it survived many invasions due to being located in high altitude and remoteness.
